Be careful with those large monitors. If they not use PVA technology the image is poor. Because the area is very large you will find color differences comparing for example the top and the button. This cheap technology is acceptable for small screens only (less than 17")

      - I had a bad experience last year when I bought an Acer model. I had to return it

      - Look for Gateways (the one that I have) or Dells

Or to put it another way, if you're not doing graphic art and just want a hunkin'big screen to browse websites, $160 is a pretty good price for 24".

#2, what I find nice about these big cheap panels is you don't have to sit so close to a desk anymore. By backing away and tilting the stand your effective viewing angle of top vs bottom isn't any greater than if it were 17" or less, though most people disagree that TN panels are a problem at larger sizes than that, especially with the switch to widescreen formats that reduce the vertical viewing area... just not any good for TV-set like viewing where multiple people may not all be positioned dead-center.

This particular monitor is kinda ill-designed though, with the ugly speakers under the trim strip, the VGA/DVI ports on the side instead of the bottom, and the control buttons on the top edge. WTF were they thinking?

#2, wow really bad experience with an acer model? must be one of the unfortunate few. but very interesting take of the PVA technology as I had yet to hear about that. I wonder if that is how those small 7' portable TVs by Hair and Sylvannia get to get away with making TVs when for dirst cheap when it would that their needs to lost of technology put into a tv. hmmm. if the are able to make a tv using such small space, I wonder what are we really paying for. just look at the iphone. that thing can process!
