T-Mobile has the T-Mobile Prepaid Sim Card Activation Kit for $0 with free shipping. GSM-phone ready and includes 10 minutes starter airtime. The T-Mobile Prepaid Micro Sim Card Activation Kit is also available for the same price.
Seems to me that $10 is pretty reasonable to replace a lost SIM. It involves more work on T-Mobile's part than just handing him a new one. I wonder what your phone service company would charge?
^^ Judging by the listings on Amazon, most cost between $0 and $8 with the average down around $3 or $4 but quite a few under that. Yes it does require the work of assigning it to the account, but it's a small overhead for them considering that if they don't feel like doing even that they have lost the customer.
Let's put it in perspective. Going with a prepaid like Tracfone you can pay $10 for the whole phone, including the SIM and activation, a test-enabling amount of airtime (20 min.), over an included activation period of 2 months without spending a cent more yet.
It is in a carrier's best interests to hook a customer cheap then make their money over the long haul.
We were not talking about the cost to activate a new phone and account, we are talking about getting a replacement card where they are not doing it to get new business. I got a free phone when I signed up for a year of service, but they wouldn't replace it for free or even cheap if I lost it because they already did the promo to get my business.
@ Ironbadge What's the matter, did I make you think?
Worst customer service of all the cell companies. I bought a prepaid phone with free $50 airtime card offer. Card did not come with the phone, called them, arguing with several CS reps for 45 minutes before they finally accepted responsibility. Bastards!!
in for 2, last time I lost my sim, tmobile store rep wanna charge me $10 to get a new one.
^ One of many good reasons to tell T-Mobile to stuff it.

^ Shut up.

Price is now $0.99. Not a big deal, and I needed a SIM, so I went ahead and ordered one.
