999 combinations, so if they steel the Ipod they are going to have the time to try all the combinations. In about 30 to 60 minutes you could try all the combinations.

agreed... or just own a 2nd gen like i do and don't worry about it. anyone who steals it needs it worse than i do.

(9*9*9 = 729)

I guess they're going to have to start programming the capability of locking down iPods with a code/pin/password kinda like you can do with cell phones. This little thing seems ridiculous.

Guess it depends on whether there is a "0" on the dial. If so, lowest combo is "000" and highest is "999", hence = 1000 combos.

Otherwise there's 888 (999 - 111).

I prefer the brute force method. Clamp the lock down on my vise and reciprocate thru it. And it's 10^3 or 000-999 or 1000 combinations.
