Dosen't seem to have any real use for this lapdesk.

It does seem to shield you from your notebook "heat" on your lap and sort of provides a place for your exteranl mouse to go around

Then buy this.

Smallish laptop on it in picture, already barely any place to move the mouse. IMO you'd be as well off cutting a nice piece of wood to your preferred size. That wouldn't have little compartments (unless made more elaborate), but at least you'd then have some usable workspace which would be a bit more useful?
