B&H Photo Video has the Tascam DP-004 Digital Pocketstudio Portable Recorder/Mixer for $149 with free shipping. Compact mixer records up to 4 tracks at 16-bit/44.1kHz and 2 audio sources simultaneously. Features dual 1/4" mic/line inputs, stereo 3.5mm output, LCD display, and USB 2.0 connector.
#3, B&H photo is a reputable seller. I bought a $350 camera lens from them just 3 weeks ago. Fast shipping and their customer service is good too. Reseller rating is 9.71 out of 10. One could refer to them as the Newegg of the photography world. I would order easily from them.
The only "problem" (minor one) I have with them is that they shut their ordering servers down on Saturday. You can't add anything to a "cart" on their web site. I believe their owners are of the Jewish faith so no-working on Saturdays.
Yes, the owners are of the Jewish faith. I've been purchasing photographic supplies and equipment from them for over 25 years. Never had a problem with them.
They have a really huge store in NYC. I bought a few things from them and they were fine just don't get talked into crap you don't need by their cheesy sales people
Does any one know if I can use this device to play an instrumental track though headphones and simultaneously record a microphone plugged in, in order to get just the voice recording? Then I can mix the two together - instrumental and voice.
A genuine good deal.
Tascam makes good stuff.
$156 on Amazon -- if you prefer a more "main-stream" vendor. Worth $6 to me for sure.

B&H is awesome. There's a reason why they've been around so long. I'd order from them all day.
