#2, is the interior metal or plastic? If metal, at which points are there contact with plastic (like the pump/spout)?

I would think the interior has to be metal. How can you use plastic on hot water? Overtime, it will smell with plastic.

we bought one when our daughter was born; it is good for powdered baby formula, but now she's 6 and we use this mostly for tea. It's been years. Either this thing is simple, or Tatung is good, or both.

#5 I suspect it's mostly metal since it holds water over time. Looking at the electric teapots, you'd be surprised how many have plastic interiors (we just tossed one from Crate and Barrel), and have reviews of "it tastes like plastic". I'd love a shot of the inside of this one to get a better idea.

OK, checked out the pictures at Newegg...fully-lined steel tank interior. Looks like minimal contact with plastic. Still almost half the price of amazon.
