Decided to go for this...if nothing else, it'll be cool to take camping to hook up the kids' iPod (outlets are provided). Decent little amp for $50 with fairly good reviews.
50 watts would be an enormous stretch. 10 would be more accurate.
^ Since the logic uses low voltage it's probable it has a switching supply and is class D. D can produce 50W easily with low construction cost.
1000W does seem wrong but this still looks like a deal for the features at $50. I thought regulations were put in place back in the '70s or '80s that RMS power had to be stated, guess our government is too busy making new laws to bother enforcing the existing ones.
Not sure if this will operate well for camping, depends on the power source... modified sine wave generator might not work out well assuming it has a minimal switching PSU in it.
Ben's Best? This is basically a disposable toy. If it works OK out of the box you can probably use it for a while, then eventually throw it away. The 1000 watt "peak" claim is a joke. RMS per channel is almost certainly less than 50 watts and there is no mention of what impedance loads it will handle.
If you want a good cheap amp get and AudioSource Amp-100. Under 100 bux, bridgeable, can handle 4 ohm speakers. True 50 wpc rms.

The screws in the face of the unit that hold the buttons and display in place are a nice touch. I'm surprised they don't list them as a feature.
Or you could get a SI T-Amp for the same price and it can run on AA batteries. I have one and for what it is it sounds amazing.

^ You can get that amp used for about the same price, not a new unit. As for the Technical Pro that's being offered, for $50 I'll take the risk.
The campsite we go to has standard electrical outlets...I like the fact that it'll also play straight off a USB or an SD card. I'll see how it goes.
I have a T-amp, that I recased, modded and tweaked. It sounds very nice and is really 15W but that's cutting it close on whether there's enough volume in some situations unless the speakers are above average efficiency (SPL). Might be good for a 2 channel computer speaker amp but the Tech Pro would be better for a standalone room system amp.
Plus, $50 is really high for a T-amp, IIRC you can get the guts for one (circuit board, add your own case, volume pot and RCA jacks if you don't want the PCB integrated 1/8" stereo jack as input) at Parts Express for $14, or a ready made whole amp /product with 2020 SI IC branded Leipai (sp?) on eBay for around $22.
