mine lasted a few months until water got into the unit and messed everything up
^ If it can be disassembled you might try potting (filling) the empty spaces with silicone caulking, or spray a conformal coating over everything, except of course the moving portion, assuming it is generator powered. I mean with a new one if the old one can't be dried out and revived then made waterproof.
