Overstock has The Lord of the Rings: The Motion Picture Trilogy Extended Editions (Blu-ray + Digital Copy) Boxset for $49 with free shipping. Includes 15 discs total with special features on DVDs. Amazon has it for a few cents more.
I thought about this as an xmas present (to myself) but I already own the DVD extended editions. Is it worthwhile for the HD transfer? I would say it'd almost be worth it if they could have cramed each movie onto a single BR disc, but with 15 discs total it sounds like that's not the case.

My precious!
#1 I wouldn't bother unless you absolutely have to have everything LOR. You're getting a decent upscale just by playing on a dvd player.
At this price, now the free ring I got from the BestBuy pre-order in June for $70 really doesn't feel so "free".
same priced at amazon
