Deep Discount has The Lord of the Rings The Motion Picture Trilogy Theatrical Editions + Digital Copy (Blu-ray) for $64 - 25% off with coupon code 25MORE = $48 with free shipping. Perhaps the most controversial set of Blu-ray discs in all of Middle Earth.
beccause they will end up releasing the extended versions. which is already out on dvd. so you ask why won't they release the extended version on bluray. but instead release this shortened version first. because they want to make more money!
What about the two upcoming Hobbit movies. I know it is going slow, especially since the director a day or two ago announced his withdrawal due to schedule, but I imagine there will be a box of the whole thing eventually. You will need the patience of a saint though.
And deepdiscount sucks, by the way. I ordered a blu-ray from them last month and, after a week of no updates, I e-mailed them for a status check. No response after 3 days, so I e-mailed them again. No response, so I e-mailed again. No response, so I e-mailed them an order cancellation request. No response, so I tried calling them. Couldn't get through the phone tree, so I filed a chargeback. Two weeks later, they send me an e-mail canceling my order due to the item being out of stock. Losers.
I love how the little trolls like dorianh49 throw out "deepdiscount sucks!" and then wander off to offer their pithy and worthless comments all over the web. Your story about calling and emailing repeatedly is obviously a fantasy. I've bought DVDs from them for about 10 years with no problems. They always answer their phones and respond to emails, and they once sent me 4 free DVDs when I told them my order never arrived with no questions asked. That's Deepdiscount, not the madeup story by baconeer dorianh49.
I've had good luck with Deep Discount too, though in the last year or two they have gotten rid of their best deals, so I don't buy anything from them anymore. There are better deals elsewhere. Their shipping to CA is slow, but hey, it's free.
As to this supposed deal, I'll wait and get the extended versions.
Extended versions? There's a reason they cut that stuff out of the original theatrical release - it was too freakin' long. More does not always mean better.
#12 but in this case more is better. Stuff was cut out because it's too long for one sitting. Plus think about how long the books were.
I've also had nothing but positive experiences from Deep Discount. Yes, the packages can take a while but I partially blame USPS. I've also called them to return an item that I changed my mind about, and got a full refund with no problems at all.
This is a waste of money, wait for the Extended Versions.
MY experience with DDDVD has always been slow shipping. I did end up receiving what I ordered eventually. Since I don't see the 20% off your entire order anymore once a year I don't use DDDVD.
#12, I've seen both the theatrical release and the extended versions. The extended version are a lot better for these films. Usually I might agree with you, but they purposefully made these extended versions so they could get stuff in, that was too long for theaters.
Why is it controversial?

That's why they release extended versions later, get people to buy both and make double the money. If you want BR extended version, just wait.
Sounds like the extended versions will be out by x-mas. Then we will get a super extended version for Easter.
Glad I asked. I'll wait.

It's controversial because the transfer SUCKS!! Rip off!!

The marketing people know how to separate $ from you.

I have had not problems with Deep Discount either.

People have random problems with many vendors.
To call the guy / girl a troll is just being a complete toolbag.

DDD (Deep Discount DVD) is no more and hasn't been for a couple of years. It's just DD now.
Does anyone even watch the DVDs they buy more than once or twice?
Some people prefer the theatrical version. This is for them and for the studio to make money from people who don't know any better.
