Back Country Outlet has the North Face Denali Jacket for $100 with free shipping. All sizes are currently available in TNF Red, Phantom Red, and Bittersweet Brown. "If you own just one [jacket], the Denali should be it."

    Precisely who made this quote?
    North Face?
    Back Country Outlet?
    Some other paid shill?

Perhaps touting some of this jacket's features might be a more convincing way to sell it. I would probably downplay the revolting colors too, otherwise people will realize why this item has appeared on this website.

F^&k The North Face. You can get the ThermaCheck 300 Jacket from LandsEnd for $30 buck, or $24 after 20% discount. The materials and cutting of ThermaCheck Jacket is as good as the Denali Jacket, you pay $70 bucks more just for the F*&king North Face logo. Or for those clueless asses really try to show off, they will pay the full price of $170 plus tax in a local department store. The truth is, North face is for posers, the hardcores will pick something like Patagonia.

TNF Denali is overhyped. Patagonia, Mountain Hardware , or Arcteryx are the brands backpackers trust.

I don't know what North Face-branded monster crawled up your asses, but it seems like you guys don't really know what you're talking about.

I own products from The North Face, Columbia, Cabelas, Patagonia, Marmot, Mountain Hardwear, Cloudveil, Marker, Pearl Izumi, etc. I use them all extensively hiking, camping, mountain biking, skiing, and fishing. The North Face is NOT any worse than anything else at the same price point. If anything, brands like Cloudveil, Patagonia, Arc'teryx, etc. are complete overkill for the average person, and the only reason I own them is because I got good deals on clearance items.

Yes, brand-name, botique, designer items are going to be more expensive than stuff from places like Land's End. YES, more research was put into those items to make them better. YES, they are built better, out of higher quality materials. NO, you probably won't notice a difference between a $100 jacket and a $40 jacket unless you spend a lot of time comparing the two.

Get off your podiums because you think The North Face is overrated - chances are, none of you have any basis for comparison. Buy the Denali jacket if you want a heavyweight mid-layer fleece that is good to wear when the weather is calm but cold. Or just buy the one from Land's End and realize that the generic brand material (non-Polartec) and cheap water-resistant finish really are lower quality than something from The North Face.

#5, sometimes when there is just so much bad crap flying around, you can not help but respond. I agree with #4. Most of the stuff I got is not because I need that great of gear. It was a good deal versus something generic. I look at name brand because I would think the company would not come out with crap that would ruin their name. TNF is a lot like Trader Joe's. It is a hit with the general populace but does not mean their product is crap. They still stand behind their product. I just don't buy it at full retail price.

Agree with #4 & #6! I have so many NF stuffs and the quality is good. Just that I don't usually get their stuffs in retail price. The outlet products are darn cheap (qty still cool) and just can't beat the price sometimes. Sales on old inventory or sometimes REI sales ...are good too.
