so, what... buy a pack of gum and get 2 free nights at a Starwood (off-season and during the week) and take the hit to your credit score when you cancel it? my understanding is that the cash back cards are the way to go, as it's better than airline miles or nights in hotels or EZbake ovens that these things give... thoughts from anyone more in the know on CC deals?
After the promos and such are there any cards that give you more than 1% back in rewards?
This is by far the best credit card that I own. I highly recommend this card to anyone. The rewards are amazing.
More cards! The obvious answer to fund my balance of payments deficit.
If you think the above logic isn't good, imagine if there was a government like that....

Summary: We owe $32,895 per US resident. Please start saving and put the Hummer purchase indefinitely on hold.
yup, best card out there period. sorry #1, unless you can show me a cash back card that gives 2% CB on everything, and forever, the SPG Amex beats it hands down.
This is a great card, except that it's hard to find good hotels in popular destinations that cost less than 8000 points. However, if you're a big spender, the extra points bonus is awesome. Plus, if you spend more than $30K on it in a year, you're upgraded to gold status and get even more points.
Best benefit to me though is that you can transfer points into frequent flyer miles for more than 30 airlines. And instead of accruing at $1 to 1 point, you get a 5000 mile bonus for every 20,000 points transferred. If you go international an transfer 40000 points, you get 10K more for free. Much better than the cashback on most cards.
my chase freedom give 3% on gas and supermarket, 1 per on everything else
#4, you're absolutely right, the government's deficit spending is out of control. We'll be paying for many generations, or the US will default on its debt.
BTW, anyone notice that Amex got permission to become a commercial bank, and hence eligible to borrow from the Federal Reserve?
