Do these things spin down inactive drives?

I wish there was a similar product for IDE drives. Maybe it could have some kind of latch mechanism that holds the drive in the port so you dont fry it by trying to swap it out, and there could be a button on the device that does the 'safely remove hardware' for you and then only releases the latch when the drive is spun down and safely un-mounted.
Anyone who becomes rich on that idea owes me $100.
I would also refrain from "slamming" the drive into it as Ben suggests... "slamming" is meant for #5's gf.
