CircuitCity.com has the Thermaltake BlacX USB Docking Station for $40 - $10 rebate [Exp 8/25] = $30 with free shipping. Slam your hard drive into it to make it into a USB external hard drive. Check out this quick look at how it functions.

i have this-love it. solidly built too, not just some piece of plastic. there's an eSATA version that some might like better tho.

bought this for my office very handy!

for the heat issue this thing more than likely should NOT be used for extended periods of time. More of a stop fire and move on type of device.

yeah-I back some stuff up and then eject the drive. it gets warm but not hot to the touch but perhaps some interior components are toasty. no problems yet tho.

Nice... blow on it periodically. I hope more of these pop up on the market from different manufacturers.

i'd be more interested in an IDE one. I don't have many spare SATA drives lying around but I have a ton of IDEs.

Or put a fan next to it. If the hard drive were sitting in a case with low case ventilation, the same thing is going to happen, so I think it should be fine on its own as long as the room temperature isn't blisteringly hot.
