This is a fantastic backup device, assuming you can use eSATA. It is as fast as having an internal HDD.
I use truecrypt on the external HDDs and backup/mirror everything on a laptop with this device. Any backup that is portable or could leave your business or home needs to be encrypted, strongly.
USB2 is significantly slower than eSATA, so I can't recommend that be used by anyone for backups, if you have any other choice.
