Newegg has the Thermaltake Purepower W0100RU 500W Power Supply for $55 - $22 rebate [Exp 8/19] + $0 shipping = $33 shipped after rebate. It has great customer reviews, with a low noise 12cm fan that surely keeps the decibels down.

  • APEVIA ATX-WA1100W 1100W Power Supply $165 - $30 rebate = $135
  • Rosewill BRONZE series RBR750-M 750W Power Supply = $90

Efficiency is rated at 70% so usable wattage is 350. Get something like Corsair (mostly @80%) or OCZ (some @86%) for better cost/benefit.

With all the power supply deals in here, it is so hard to tell which ones are good.
Could a poster develop a power supply list, which sorts power supplies into 5 different "tiers"?

LOL. Hey those "tiers" have saved me "tears". Just say no to Coolmax power supplies!

What's interesting Ben is listing this under the "Latest Electronics Bargains", while his own history lists it like 15 times with varyios prices and rebates, but most often about this price, while once it was $15.

Here's the issue Purepower Series they're found most often not to make their max watts claim, 430W are actually 350W, while most figure this 500W provides 430-450W max. If you realize that going in, and build accordingly it's not the worst. The real down side is these really adheres to the older spec ATX12V 1.03; while notice they say it "Complies with" ATX 12V 2.0 Version, because it has the 24pin, SATA, and 6pin PCI-E connections as that is a big part of revision update.

Either way looking for a good 500W unit, I'd look elsewhere and pass on this... While consider any of these right tody.

Uh, #1, methinks the efficiency number works the other way 'round: 70%*x=500w, so this box burns 714w to supply the rated 500w if they're not fibbing. Except if you add the rated power on each rail, it supposedly gives 594w, and it draws up to 9A at 115V, for over 1kVA. Not the slickest power supply out there...

Well #9, it's even better if it works that (your) way. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I read somewhere that the posted/listed wattage is actually the total wattage consumed. I have not actually looked at the PSU I ordered though since it's still in transit.

#10: #9 is correct. Power supplies are rated for the wattage that they can output. So, a 500watt power supply can put 500watts out to the computer, and will draw around 625watts from the wall while supplying those 500watts.

#11, thanks for clarification. I got the Corsair 400W so I guess it fits well my small box and an also small electricity bill.
