You can get a T500 for $100 more, much better specs.
Uhh this has 1 less Gb of RAM but a better processor. Where are the "much better specs" for 100 bucks more. I can get 2gb stick of the same RAM for under 30 bucks OTD.
I would do some research before listening to this meatball.
Stay away from the R500's. They have a horrible screen and the Thinklight is amber, not white like in the T series. I bought one and had to tilt it 30 degrees backwards to get the colors looking normal. If it was at a 90 degree angle the taskbar was all washed out. Leveno making these was the worst thing IBM did. The new R500 can't compare with my old Thinkpad.
You can get a lenovo notebook with similar spec with cheaper price.
But #4 the shell casing isn't the same on the lower models as it is ont the R and T series. The only difference between the R and T is that the T series shell weighs less.
If you don't care for this, then by all means get the lower end stuff.
The back of my old T41 is a metal case. The casing holds up better when traveling and is less prone to be damaged.
The "metal case" is Magnesium. Better than Dell's plastic.
