Lenovo has the best customer support in my opinion, owned dell and hp as well.

      #1, give some examples.

I haven't come across a non-gigabit thinkpad since my x31 going forward. You sure about that Ben?

Yeah, but it's still not fast enough to, say - game or large enough to use say, Photoshop, so what can you do practically with this that you can't with a netbook? I am asking seriously. I just don't see the point to a small notebook anymore.

Gee, thanks for offering us the benefit of your know-it-all opinion. We were getting the shakes from an absence of your esteemed input. Please take you hands out of your clothing, that's not polite.

#6, I am using a X61 which is a little less powerful than the X61s, but quite close. It does not have a dedicated graphics card, so imaging/video editing/gaming are not good use. For daily chores such as web, email, productivity,... it fits the bill. IMHO, a netbook will do the job. I agree with you, therefore instead of getting an X61s for my wife, I ordered an ASUS 1000HE, half the price, a little heavier, but it'll get the job done. If there were good netbook a year ago, I would have not gotten the X61.

For all the video/audio/imaging/gaming stuff, I have a desktop.

This deal has been up for almost a week, yet the 1000 uses have not been used up. I don't think people will be willing to pay that amount after the fifty percent off deal offered in December. Additionally, the resale value is horrible, as the ones from the last sale are still floating around craigslist and eBay. I expect these models to be phased out soon. They were introduced in 2007 and it's about time for a refresh.

I have one, it's decent as a large netbook because I can't stand the tiny screens. The build is of a true Thinkpad, sturdy and rugged, although Lenovo keeps the interesting coloring...

All in all, this is a nice notebook that would be aimed toward business travelers, students, or anyone who would like to use a decent notebook or good value.
