Tivo has been losing subscribers. All they have left is patent lawsuits.
agreed...tvgos is free
As a long time fan of TiVo I have to agree, they have fallen behind. This is not really a deal if you want to build your own. Even the TiVo premiere is not good enough any more. I have had one of these since they came out (with a $299 lifetime for Multi-user) and have added a few bells (bigger hard drive, stream baby stream) that make it worth keeping, but it is not worth going out and buying at this stage. It took about 3 years to get back the money I spent on this when compared to a cable co. DVR with a smaller HD (after upgrade), but now it is so easy to build one that it seems pointless. However, if you (like me) have a very non tech savy wife that needs things easy, this is the way to go. TiVo is waaayyyy user friendly. It allowed me to drop fios TV when they upped my rate by $40 a month and not look back. So it has it benefits.
Other features are: Netflix, Amazon, youtube, and blockbuster.
Not sure tivo will be around for my lifetime unless I get hit by bus tomorrow.
