Too bad that the reviews are so horrible.
Reviews of what? TivoHD is a terrific device; we use ours constantly.
I had purchased the small-drive version last year and learned on the web how to put in a big drive, so our unit now records up to about 110 hours of HD.
The user interface is simple, bug-free, and fast. The video is clear and razor-sharp. We had lifetime service on our SD Tivo and now have it on the HD Tivo. Life is good.
Yeah, agree that the TIVO HD is an excellent product. The Premiere is buggy, although it's getting better with each release of the OS. Tivo launched the Premier too early, but they've put out at least 3 updates in the last four months to address these problems. The only new feature of the Premiere is wireless keyboard support.
Too bad they don't offer the same Lifetime service of $199 like they do when you buy a Premiere unit as an exisiting customer.
For those too lazy to do the math, payback on the lifetime plan works out to 2.5 years; after that it's gravy based on $13/mo.
