TV guide and VCR+
#17, SONY DHG-HDD500 sounds a bit pricey. From amazon.com "1 used & new available from $1,299.99"
I agree that TIVO is the best way to watch TV. I have an old one with lifetime subscription (no monthly fee). Its been to the factory twice so it is not without some cost of ownership.
s TIVO does not repair your particular unit for you, they send you a different one so all those neat shows you had saved are gonzo.
"3 years of prepaid service for the price of 2"
Why would anyone do this when HDTV is set to kick in Feb. 17th, 2009? This is a dated article but this deadline is what I saw in the latest Crutchfield...

Personally, it doesn't sound like a good deal to me but a free TiVo with monthly service might be good. Sounds like they're just trying to move some product since it's almost at it's 'end-of-life'. Just my 2 cents.
I have Dish Network DVR - no additional fee. Got the units and service free as promotion. Does everthing a TIVO does, so good that TIVO sued them and lost, silly money sucking TIVO.
Nothing a TIVO can do that Dish DVR can't do, EXCEPT CHARGE ME MONEY UP FRONT AND EVERY MONTH!!! (above what I would already pay for satelite or cable )
Dish has been great. Great reception, price is friggin awesome compared to Comcast, lost reception for about 2 hours over the last 2 years due to weather (which is less down time than I averaged with Comcast).
TIVO was a good choice when you could buy a lifetime subscription for $250. Now they want to suck your blood every month? TIVO lovers are just deluded. Add to that the service contract for my DVR box is included and I can get a free upgrade just by saying I am thinking of switching service to another provider.
I laugh at Tivo sycophants who have to work longer to pay for the service they need. because they work longer!!! muhahah muha
Too bad they don't have the lifetime subscription option anymore. I have 2 tivos with lifetime, going on 7 years now. Best investment I made in electronics ever.
