Anyone have any experience with Tommaso bikes here?
over 27lbs on a 54cm frame without pedals, seems heavy. probably get a better value on bikesdirect.com
I can get the beginner Specialized aluminum road bike with better componentsfor under $800 and it weighs under 19 lbs.
Chromoly steel frame is so 80's. Stiff, heavy, and durable until it starts rusting, would be a decent touring bike, but not the best starter bike these days with aluminum frame bikes as inexpensive as they are.
or you can opt for the Imola, practically the same bike only made out of alluminum for $399...

#1, the real question is, "Anyone have any experience with GiantNerd?" What kind of name is that?
Steel frame is better for a starter bike. More forgiving and the extra weight builds up your muscles. Rust really isn't a problem, considering you will destroy the cables, shifters, chain, etc. if you leave it outside in the rain and if you don't it won't rust away for many years... unless you are talking about a MTB you never clean the mud off of or ride in salty slush in the winter but again that will destroy the rest long before the frame.
