Let's calculate not only the monetary aspect of having maps, instead of GPS, but the cultural one as well ... the huge impact it would create. We have to travel discover new worlds, new cultures and it is cheaper doing by using maps, point made. Here is my trade mark logo - Know more for less ! and for some jokers here - this concerns only the monetary aspect ... since this is a bargain side. Well it is not difficult to explain ... and I hope ... to understand TDF
Umm yeah, good argument. Except, you dont always have time nor desire to spend a lot of time poring over a map. My TomTom has saved me much grief.
Take this New Years for example. Friend needed to move, so we go from Riverside to LA to pick up the UHaul. Then take the UHaul to his sister's place. Then he realizes he forgot to google directions to the new apt that he has never seen. TomTom saves the day.
Then later that night, we have a party at some mansion in Wilshire. We're getting ready at the new apartment, but since he just moved he's missing essentials such as soap, shampoo, and towels. TomTom's points of interests saves the day.
I needed a nice shirt for the party and my friend needed dress shoes, so asked my friend the cross streets of a nearish mall, and TomTom'ed there without having to remember complex directions.
When we're ready, all we have is the address of the mansion. TomTom wins again.
Good luck using a $2 map to achieve all this in minimal time. We made it an hour later than we planned too. We wouldnt even had made it if we didn't have TomTom to get us around.
definately better than a $2 map

#2, STFU! WTF are you talking about?!?!
#2 Just look at the sun, moon or stars for your direction.
They're free....save u $2 the map.
I just bought a gps, I decided to go with the Garman 200W. From reviews, much more accurate. Costco has it for $200.
Can't imagine any of you misfits needing one of these. I dont think you get out all that often.
#6 Costco has Garman 200W for $199 starts 1/7/08.
Please let me know if they have it now!!!
I heard at best buy that with garmin you have to pay for map updates and that with TomTom you get them free
#9 Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe you get one free map update from TomTom, valid for 30 days after activation.
