Got one of these for Christmas. Fairly happy with it.
Upgraded the software from the website and lost all sound. Be sure and backup before you upgrade. Waiting on response from support.
Is this a good deal for GPS?
Its a decent deal. I've seen better. TomTom is a pretty good brand, so is Garmin.
A year from now they will be giving you one of these with an oil change at your local Jiffy Lube. The Chinese are cranking these things out faster then they can sell them over here.
#4, what's your source for that info?
I'd definitely get this. I have the Garmin Nuvi 660 and wish I would have bought a TomTom. Garmin interface looks better, but that is basically all it has on this TomTom (except TTS, which you can get on the XLS). TomTom gives you free map updates, API to program your own features on, and the user community is good. I have to pay ~$58 for a Garmin map update on Amazon.com.
