Why buy this?
The $200 Nexus 7 is just weeks away. It adds a 1280x800 screen, Tegra 3, and either ICS or Jellybean. This tablet will drop to $150 in 30 days.
This has a 1280X800 screen, mini USB, micro HDMI, Bluetooth and 5 MP camera and GPS. I don't think anyone is expecting the Nexus 7 to have all of those features for $199.
My Toshiba Thrive's hardware is starting to fail after a year of sparse use. USB port dying, SDHC port dead, battery lasts a few hours, accelerometer is flakey... Not worth the money.
correction: FULL USB port
super clutch for thumb drives, external hard drives, keyboard/mouse, etc
I purchased one from WOOT when it was on sale---I believe $230. It is a great piece of equipment that few 10.1 inch Android pads can currently match. The newer version, now called the "Excite" may have a slightly faster processor and is a bit thinner but it is at the sacrifice of other features like the full USB and the user replaceable battery (I am not sure which other comparable unit has that feature). Plus ICS release is slated soon. Check Toshiba's website and other blogs...the thrive is upgradeable to Android 4.0. Because it is being replaced, the accessories are now quite inexpensive including the replacement batteries, different color backs and docks.
