Newegg has the Transcend TS8GSDHC10 8GB Class 10 SDHC Card for $12 with free shipping. Supports transfer rates of up to 23 MB/s on devices supporting SD v.3.0 and is backwards compatible with SD v.2.0.
This brand got great ratings on Amazon, but after I bought one and used it in my camera for a few days, my camera couldn't read it. I tried to put it in my PC's reader and same result. I was eventually able to save the pictures, but I won't trust Transcend ever again.
A got one a few weeks ago to use with my 60D, speeds are definitely OK for the money and no problems yet... If I was a professional I would spend the money for a better brand but I've had those "better" brands fail too.
#2, in my opinion it doesn't really matter who you buy a $12 item from when it will cost at least $5 return shipping plus a bunch of hassle to return/replace it. Amazon might actually do free return shipping on a replacement but newegg doesn't.

#1, did the seller replace it? Buy electronics from good retailers, like Newegg, in case you need to return the item.
