Newegg has the Transcend TS8GSDHC10 8GB Class 10 SDHC Card for $20 with free shipping. Supports transfer rates of up to 23 MB/s on devices supporting SD v.3.0 and is backwards compatible with SD v.2.0.
don't the higher end dslrs use cf anyway? good point about not noticing a difference when shooting pics on most cameras. of course when you have to get 8gb of files off the card, class 10 helps a lot.
Always buy a higher speed card when the difference in cost is small, the card will long outlast the device you would use it in AND as importantly, all the while it does 50% of it's job, transferring to another device, a lot faster.
The cheapest SDXC (64GB) cost $200-400...oops! Most people will be more than fine with class 10 SDHC or even slightly cheaper class 6 (see #3 and #4 above). You can find deals on 8 or 16GB class 10 SDHC for a couple of $$ more than for class 6.
Class 10 also helps, if you are shooting in RAW (files are several times bigger than jpeg). But if you are walking The Dark Side, you already know that...
I am using a high speed SD card in my company laptop to store my personal files (with encrytion)... better than a usb drive that sticks out. I saw too many coworkers got laid off and need to walk out with the securities. This way, a push and pop, my personal files are leaving with me.
#9, Do you pop it out every time you walk into a meeting? In really tight workplaces you get escorted out without going to your desk. You have to submit a list of personal property they will ship to you.
Pretty much all SDHC cards can do 23MB/s read... show me the WRITE speeds. I got A-data Class10 from MeritLine.com and gave same performance as SanDisk Class 6.
Sold out at the Egg, but 22 with free shipping at Amazon. Based on the reviews, it's a decent class 10, but not as fast as others (Sandisk extreme).
You are not going to notice a difference using this compared to even a class 4 in a camera or mp3 player.
#2 - you will with higher end DSLR's and when shooting hi def video.

No #4, most modern DSLR cameras, Nikon D90, Canon Rebel T2i, Pentax K7, and other use SDHC or SDXC.
