With the TSA and airlines being really strict about weight restrictions these days, I don't know if they're really functional anymore. If your case is 20 pounds, you'll hit 50 pretty fast.

These are actually not as heavy as they seem. Very resilient to the damage baggage handlers will dish out. This is a great price too. Travelers choice is known to be on the low end in the luggage world but you wont find a hard shell case for less. These wont rip like nylon luggage and last longer. The only thing that sucks about buying luggage on line is that you cannot see the quality of the wheels, zippers, and the handle, which are the most important parts of any set of luggage. Nothing sucks more than getting a busted wheel, handle, or zipper in the middle of a trip.

#3 Very true. I've always fancied the hard shell look vs. the soft sided cases but I fear they will crack when other bags are piled high above them.

the handlers love these - they put them on the bottom and pile everything else on top

it looks real good, but looks can be deceiving. I have a 7 year old samsonite that has been around the world, kind heavy, but sturdy as hell. I would hold off on these. anyone know if the smallest one can be used for carry-on

Don't be silly jwahooo. Most of the rodeo cowboy who have time to post in these forums are college kids who are so homesick, they actually believe they might need luggage. They don't know yet that their mothers hate them.

#3 Now that's a sensible post. I can't imagine the moving components being of good quality at this price, but I guess with a little care, they'll last a while (as long as the baggage handlers don't abuse them).

Can't speak to the quality of these, but looks somewhat similar to the much more expensive Rimowa. As a plastic hardshell, it won't have the problems of denting, like the aluminum Rimowa.

That may be the ugliest luggage I have ever seen.
