Ends today. Newegg has the TRENDnet TEW-637AP 300Mbps Wireless Easy-N-Upgrader for $25 + $0 shipping = $25 shipped. It connects to your existing router to add Wireless-N capability. It is not a stand-alone device.

#1 is right. I can imagine how a call to Verizon regarding not working DSL would go with DSL modem, router, N-upgrader and Vonage VOIP box. Endless blame on the "other boxes".

Ironically the WRT160N (V2) is a culprit in my friend's Verizon DSL not working!

I have the TEW-637AP bought for the same price here a couple of months back. Works well with my Zyxel X550 G modem (with its wireless off now). I had a couple of issues getting actual N connectivity with the thing. Had to do with the default configurator settings on the Trendnet.

This is a great access point. I have verizon fios and their free wireless router which I had to reboot every other day otherwise it would lag. I disabled the wireless on the unit and replaced it with this and haven't had to reboot since. Great access point with excellent range and speed even in a 5000+ square foot B&M tudor house.

Good Verizon FIOS n-upgrader. Disable the wireless on the V modem and fly...

I got a full blown tplink router with N for <$20 recently. I'm using it in non-router mode and it works great. I get 40-50MBps effective as per iperf since it doesn't do Gig-E.

#4&#5, why do you have to disable Wi-fi signal on the FIOS router? What if you leave them both on?

#8 For some reason the wireless feature of the Fios router would lag if it's not rebooted every couple of days. It was easier to just disable the fios wireless and use the access point instead.

#9, #10, see your point. I have the same problem (dropped) with my V Fios router after two good years. Thanks for sharing. I ordered one. See if I can run two at the same time. Just out of curiosity.

#11 You can run two but if you get on the Fios wireless router instead of the Access Point then it would still lag. Better to eliminate the lag totally.

I just run a DIR-825 behind my Verizon FIOS router and disabled the V-routers wireless-G. That gives my home network some privacy from the verizon techs and 4 gigabit ports and works great.

Next up an upgrade to 35/35mb. Very Happy

#13, how long have you used and how is your DIR-825 now? Newegg reviews are not very great, however, not really care... If you run the DIR-825 behind the V router, then WAN port is limited to 100M right? So your transfer speed is up to 1000M only between the computers and the DIR-825? Thanks.
