Newegg has the TRENDnet TEW-637AP 300Mbps Wireless Easy-N-Upgrader for $25 with free shipping. It connects to your existing router to add Wireless-N capability. It is not a stand-alone device. [Compare]

So, it is just an 802.11b/g/n WAP.

Who is the rodeo cowboy who came up with that product name?

what a lame product, why would you not just upgrade to an "N" router?

    I agree #2. Lame.
Got an n router from Newegg for around $30 (TP-Link). Much better option IMHO.

Perhaps someone who wants to add a second WAP to an already existing network without replacing the current ISR either for security or guest use.

Works great for me - On my current router, I have DDWRT loaded and working its QOS goodness for me, so this cheap easy add on made sense. I've had no issues.

    #5 and #6, a couple questions...
    Did you have DDWRT loaded?
    Did you have any issues?

Just wanted to know since I wasn't sure the first two times.

    #6, you're talking to yourself.

I got an Asus with DD-WRT which works well but needed additional coverage. I got TP-Link N router and use it as a WAP. It was less than $20 and I could always use it as a router if I needed to. This would make sense if it was $10.

#7, #6 was referring to #5 and # 4, but #3 was agreeing with #2. Or was that #5 was talking to #6? Wait, what number am I?

Sounds like it's a good device if you're using something like Smoothwall Express or IPCOP instead of these cheap consumer class routers. WAPs are notoriously overpriced so most people using that kind of config just buy wireless routers and don't using the routing side.

Agreed, I also have a DD-WRT setup and while I could buy a new -n router and flash it to DD-WRT, configure it, and test it... much simpler and quicker to just plug this in if it's the same price. Downside? An extra box on the shelf. Upside? If it fails I still have 11g from the router, or if the router fails I have a few 11b routers I retired that would suffice until I found a replacement I liked with this providing 11n.

I was talking to #5 and #6, which were the same person and duplicate post. That made my post #7.

Subsequently, somehow #5's post was deleted, moving #6 to #5. That also moved my #7 post to #6. This caused too much confusion, as now my previously numbered 7 post made no sense as it was now #6.

    Or maybe I'm drunk!
