I have this system and it sucks. Sounds very "empty" and "tinny", and when you try to return a call automatically from the caller-ID it does not dial the area code, making auto callback worthless. Waste of money.
I have same system and they work great, sound great and are feature rich. You need to program in the area code information so it knows how to redial
I don't have this system or know anyone with it, so the stuff below could mean **nothing**.
I have an older 5.8 Digital Uniden system, TRU-8886, with 5 satellites, bought about 7 years ago. 4 of my friends bought that same system for their homes. All of us are **extremely happy** with these phones. The voice quality even when outside at a distance beyond expectations is great. We each live on conference calls 5+ hours a day. The speaker phone built into each handset is the best for the $130 and less price range that we've found. Standard headset jack is nice too, I use a plantronics headset on important calls.
I've read that about 10% of Uniden phones don't work well on another web site with over 100 reviews. That hasn't been my experience with the 5.8GHz digital models (17 handset sample).
I've purchased the 2.4Ghz version for family members. They were ... uh, bad. Bad voice and a bad speaker phone.
No clue about any DECT phones - other than the security on them has been cracked. http://www.google.com/search?q=DECT++hacked&btnG=Search
As to area code issues - I live in a 10-digit dialing area and the phone works fine with that. We have to dial 10 digits to call our next door neighbor.
#1, #2, and #3 -
It doesn't matter. Where ever someone dug up this sale, it wasn't even a good deal two years ago.
#4 your right... I got a GE Brand with one landline with answer machine and two cordless phone 3 item. for 29.99 shiped last year at FRY. Works better than the Uniden I currently own, I was pretty supprize that they sell refurbished even at this price..
