Nice deal but my last uniden set had multiple handset failures. I currently have a panasonic set that cost about $20 more than this. So far it works great and has more features like talking caller ID (although some might find that feature annoying). The Panasonic also uses standard AAA NiMH cells.

I feel sorry for people that desperately hang on to obsolete technology, I really do. They probably have this on their desk, next to their typewriter and Tandy 1000.

The really cool thing is that he takes the time to feel pity for those who are not at the same level of awesomeness. You would think that someone who was so awesome would not spare the brain cells to even think of those of little significance.

When buying phones, always check the frequency. With all the wireless technology that has taken over our homes, it is easy to overlook conflicts that potential may occur with signals that are on the same frequency.

#5 - DECT is great in that regard. They operate at 1.9GHz so they don't interfere with anything.

Here I go again. You guys must be sick of me posting this comment but my wife lost a call yesterday because of the problem described below.
    *

I have the model 1080. It works fine except for one really aggravating function. If you answer on one of the handsets and the call is for someone near another handset, they can't just pick it up and start talking. The original handset has to either "Transfer" the call or "Conference In" the other handset.

Either takes 5 separate button pushes. If you can remember what they are it would still be a pain in the a$$ but who can remember the steps?

I recommend you download the manual for this model and see if it has similar software. Then decide if you can tolerate this type of function.

#7 - The 2080 does make it much easier. The other person hits one button to join the conversation.
