Straight Talk is offering a pre-paid 30-Day Unlimited Talk, Text and Data Plan for $45/month. No contract, GSM network, can be used with any unlocked GSM phone (Straight Talk SIM card required).
1000 Minute and 1000 Text Plan for $30/month
Verizon contract up in two months. Dang thought it would never get here. Anybody use this service or others like it? I don't want another contract.
The service is better when you use their phones. The phone with a card, GSM unlocked in on ATT Network. The other is Verizon network even though both are Straighttalk.
that is the regular price in Walmart. Or am I missing something??
They are allowing you to bring in an unlocked GSM phone. Price is $45 a month for "Unlimited" but many people have been cut off due to excessive data use. They normally dont allow any streaming of audio/video.
You would be better off just going to aT&T or T-mobile and paying $50 a month for unlimited.
Straight Talk has no towers, they use Verizon, T-mobile, ATT or Sprint. Basic CDMA phone are Verizon, Android CDMA phones are Sprint Prepaid, GSM phones are T-mobile or ATT depending on which SIM card it comes with. No roaming is included on any carrier using Straight Talk.
Also be aware of the coverage map on Straight Talks site. Its a combination of all networks they offer. AT&T, T-mobile, Verizon and Sprint. Since each phone only uses one of these networks, you will only get a fraction of that coverage shown on the map.
Its Verizon Prepaid without roaming. (Smaller coverage area then Verizons own prepaid service)
Sprint Prepaid (Prepaid coverage only, no roaming on Verizon = coverage in major cities only)
AT&T and T-mobile coverage remains about the same, but AT&T likes to cut people off for data use.
I was using Simple Mobile for a while, which is similar to Straight Talk in that they are resellers of other networks (T-Mobile for SM). They did allow you to bring a smartphone, where as some of the other resellers require special data plans for smartphones. I think SM unofficially capped their data at 2gb. I'd probably still be with them if work hadn't decided to provide new cell and plan. No complaints, other than T-mobile service was spotty where I live, and like doomed mentions - no roaming.
T-mobile lets you bring your own phone, no need for a reseller..
Page Plus Cellular, http://www.pagepluscellular.com is a reseller of Verizon, hate them but a great network.
$40 a month gives you unlimited talk and unlimited text and 20 MB data or $55 a month (NOW) gives you the same with 1 GB of data. This is about half the price of Verizon and is a month to month, no years long contract.
Usually about a two minute wait to get to customer service, no horrible phone tree you can't get through.
Verizon network without the Verizon price.
You know what their rival company is named, right?
screw talk ?
