What type of credit rating do you need to get this card?

No clue about the credit but I've had this card for almost 2 years and have no complaints. When I signed up you got a $200 credit the first time you used it so for using it once I got a $250 check in the mail. I've saved up for another one since then and am within a month or two of another. Granted I use this card for business so I ring up a lot of expenses but you really can't complain about a card when you get a check for $250 in the mail every 6 - 10 months.

That sounds like a good rewards package. I am just looking to build up some credit.

agree with #2, awesome rewards card. If you have a chase checking account, they let you have an extra 2 categories to earn 3% instead of 1%.

I am cancelling some of my other cards (citi professional)and getting an alaska airlines card. Just bought a one way ticket for the next day that would normally cost $484 to go from calif to canada, for 10,000miles + $5! they give 20,000 miles for signing up. I think it is even better deal than the starwood card.

Good overall card, I believe you need at least a 650 credit rating to get this.

It's true you need a higher credit rating to get this card because I have a few friends who signed up for this but they did not get the "Visa Signature" version, which is the advertised card above (3% in top 3 categories, etc.).

This card is good. I like how you can get an extra $50 if you wait to redeem at $200 in rewards. I wish travel, such as hotel/airline/car rental, count as one of the categories though.

I was issued the standard version, but requested to be upgraded to the "Visa Signature program" to qualify for the floating top three bonus categories. Still have an active 5% 3G's card (Gas-Grocery-druGstore) so it's taking a bit longer to reach $200 on mostly 1% categories but worth the wait. BTW, never cancel no-fee cards, just cut them up.

The 3% doesn't apply to "superstores, warehouse clubs or discount stores." Maximum bonus rebate accumulation on net purchases earning a 2% bonus rebate is $12 monthly, which equates to $600 in net purchases. In other words, after the first $600 spent on applicable net purchases, all remaining purchases (even in top 3 categories) will only get 1%. I easily spend over $600 per month on things like utilities, regular groceries and home necessities.
