Ben, where are the lousy Staples Friday deals??
lol who cares about staples i want officemax
Get the American Express Blue Travel. You earn points for every dollar you spend.
do gas stations accept AMEX?
If Costco is included in this as a supermarket, I'm in.
Doubtful #5
If you read the fine print, you only get 5% after you spend either $2,500 or $5,000 in a year. Otherwise, you only accrue 1% or 1.5% for those things in a tiered percentage. That's why I stuck to my Chase Freedom card and the AMEX has been sitting around for a while unused.
I dunno. The best deal seems like the 4.99 for the life of the balance. Transferring a car loan to a CC might work out to be a few bucks depending on your current rate. (Don't miss a payment though... as I'm sure the rate will increase to 20%+)
it's $6500+/year. it's not that hard accumulate. You'll probably exceed it even if you don't charge all your bills onto the credit card.
I got denied for this card when this "deal" was posted last week, even though I've just gotten approved for credit with two different Visa cards and an electronics retailer. Is AMEX that discriminating?
#9, if you're talking about all categories, maybe. But very few people are spending over $6,500 a year just in gas, groceries and drugstores. And, even if you break that barrier and spend, say, $7,000, you only get the 5% on the amount that exceeds the $6,500 - so you get 5% of $500, or $25. Big deal.
the description fails to mention 1.5% back on everything else, so it's not just 5% back on the 3 types of stores.
Well if you don't charge anything else on your card, then maybe it's not for you. i use it for purchases other than the supermarket, gas, and drugstores.
are their any other amex cards with no annual fee
costco is NOT included in the 5% category, its part of the 1%.. costco considered like a giant retail do it all super store or something. I called CSR hoping they would since costco gas is cheap. I was saddened by their response.
woops its 1.5% i guess.. but this is the only card that costco accepts. so i got it for costco and their gas. Unless you want to use ur debit card, or cash. I dont think you can get cash back for using debit cards, that part im not sure of since i only use CC or cash.
$6500 in a year isn't that hard. That's like $550 a month. if you put EVERYTHING on the card, that's pretty easy.
"it's $6500+/year. it's not that hard accumulate. "
That's right. Once the oil goes to $120/barrel, and your car doesn't have good MPG, you will "achieve the goal". LOL~
Read what #11 says. Read the fine print carefully.
not all places take AMEX either.
#19,
Who the hell doesn't take Amex anymore? I keep hearing this on these forums, yet I've never come across a business who refuses an Amex card (unless they're completely cash-only). I can think of a million places that don't take Discover or checks, though.
