#19 is right, though most do. UP TO 5% is difficult to reach. its better to just get a chase freedom card or a citi rewards card. (chase freedom is great b/c its always 1%/3% and no waiting)

#5, they actually have a AmEx Costco card. Go to the AmEx site and look it up!

I use my Blue from Amex card (reward points not cash card) everywhere. I cannot even remember if I was every told we don't accept Amex. And of course costco... I get my points for shopping there.

      5% on the gas?!
It is better than the AAA card I am using now.
At the very beginning, AAA also provide 5% cash back on Gas, but they reduce it to 3% now.

These are up to 5%. Is it the same crap with discover where you have to make a $5k of purchases before the 5% kicks in. Blah. Have switched all my purchases to my credit union who gives me 1.25% all the time, no funny business.

wow, so the 5% does not come down after a period of time? these cards usually give you like 5% for a few months only

#10, it raises a red flag when you apply for too many credit cards at once.

#13, the original blue card has no annual fee. The Amex Clear is a new card that is advertised as no annual fee, no late fee, no overlimit fee, no fee whatsoever.

#20, there are still a ton of places that don't take Amex, mostly the smaller mom and pop stores. The mom and pop stores get charged a lot more per transaction than a big retail chain, and Amex cost more than visa/MC. Also, many colleges only take visa/MC as credit card payments, no Amex or Discover, for tuition payments.

#31, what in the world is a Citi amex? There is no such thing. They are 2 different card issuers.

I've applied to AMEX and been turned down, and every week they send me a preapproved application. They're just a tease.
