It's 1% on purchases at supermarkets, gas stations and drugstores UP TO $6,500. Anything over that gets 5% rewards on those 3 categories. You better spend a lot. Warehouse type stores don't count.

Yeah, I think the suggestion in the comments is opposite of what it should be. This is one of the best cards out there for someone who charges a lot, since once you get the 1.5%/5% level, there's not much out there better, unless there's some Black uber card out there for the real high rollers. I think those are more perk cards than cash back cards.

But if you only charge a few hundred dollars a month, then it's going to take you several months just to hit the $6500 level. Then the 1%/3% flat rate cards out there are probably better.

This is a good basic card, for a lot of people, that spend under $6.5K a year. But, if you go over that limit, it's a very good card. BTW, online they have a calculator so you can see what would be your annual average cash back.

IMO this is the best cash back card to get if you spend more than about $15-20K per year. I got back $700 last year and I'm on track for $800 this year.. it's been working out to over 2% cash back on average.

YMMV, but you can do the math or use the calculator on their website.

The main advantage I see with this card, which I have, is that you don't pay the usual Amex fees yet get all the perks of having an amex card like refusing a charge very easily, just write them an email and they take it off.
