Before you apply, check if it is accepted where you normally shop.

Make sure to check the fine print. Typically the 5% doesn't kick in until you've spent 5k on AMEX cards.

I've been looking to get a new card. Is AMEX used in more places than it used to be?

Took me 6 months to spend the required $6000 because most of my purchases were getting 1%/3% food&gas back on other cards and 0.5%/1.5% food&gas on this card. Maybe I should have bit the bullet and put all my purchases on it to rack up the $6000 to then earn 1.5%/5% food&gas sooner than later.

have yet to use the rfid. I rarely see those terminals where you pass them over and it pays automatically.

I have had this card for several years. Amex support it has been very good when I have issues or questions. I have a Visa card also because there are a lot of other stores that do not accept it.
