MeritLine.com has the USB 2.0 ALL-in-1 External Memory Card Reader/Writer for $11 - $5 with coupon code mmcardreader5off [Exp 11/9] = $6 with free shipping. Good that they dispensed with the increasingly futile numbering scheme for the number of supported formats.

Except it doesn't support SSFDC, better known as SmartMedia.

I've never used a card reader before.
Does it just come up as an external drive?

#5 Yes the device will come in as one or muliple drives. When you are done with reading your data off of the card you will need to eject the card and this is done with an icon that is down by the clock.. If you do not eject you have a chance of corrupting the data on the card..

I bought 2 similar readers from yesbuy.com for $5.50 each. It is better than this one because it reads MMC, SDHC as well as xd card plus all the others. It has a green pc board inside. It is identified by the computer as one drive whereas other readers come up to have 4 drives. In a way it is good because there is no confusion which one to use since there is no software included which can identify them as cf, sd, mmc, xd or mms drives.

Can anyone recommend 1 or 2 specific reliable multi-card readers that are smartmedia compatible?
