Lowes has the Utilitech 7W A19 Warm White LED Light Bulb for $10 with free pickup. Features warm white color, 25000 hour lifespan and is comparable to a 40W incandescent bulb.
me2, it gets you an instant-on light (even in the cold), a light that won't prematurely wear from frequent on-off cycling (like for a motion detector), and it generates less RF interference. It might also be worth it to someone for placement in hard-to-reach locations like a high ceiling. $10 might be worth it if I don't have to pull out a ladder to replace a ceiling bulb for a couple of extra years.
You do have to be careful with LED "bulbs" though, as they are not all dimmable...especially from this brand. At least, the last time I checked 'em out a couple of months ago.
HomeDepot has this on sale for $7.99 lately. Looks the same on display. Good warm color.
What does this save me over a CFL for 1/10th the price?

me2, it gets you warm and fuzzy because you spent money on somthing new that you probably didn't need to to begin with. That's how it works 4 me.
