Buy.com has the V The Complete TV Series DVD for $12 with free shipping on $25. Tells the story of an alien race that invades Earth and humanity's fight to survive. Basis of the recent remake.
Most of this was recently re-aired on SyFy. I never saw it when it was on originally, but I watched some of it last month and it's pretty bad. For $12 it's probably good nostalgia for those who remember it, I guess, but it has definitely not aged well.
No, the original was not better than the remake. Between the awful optical effects that were always reused shots from the original miniseries, the lousy directing and attempts at story arcs that went nowhere, this made a mess out of a once promising miniseries. Watching this dreck once was enough.
I like the original, the new one isn't bad, but the original was quite a good show, great story line, many twists and surprises in the plot line. This is also the reason for the V remake, of course if you already seen the original, the new remake might not surprise you as much since you pretty much know several of the surprises of the plot. for $12 is an excellent price if you haven't seen the original.
C'mon, it doesn't get any better than Beastmaster Marc Singer doing his macho William Shatner impersonation throughout the series, Jane Badler's ruby red lips and abnormally weird thighs...
Give me free shipping outright and I'm in.

And sadly #2, I bet that the original will be better than the recent remake.
IT was $9 about 2 weeks ago

It's classic, man.
Must agree with #2 and #5 the new version is a big improvement.

Grab a chuck of flesh on your face & peal it back to make sure you yourself are not a Visitor!
Can't wait till they do a remake of Space 1999. BTW - Hate to break it to you, but if you know what I am talking about - your old!
Great mini-series. Terrible series. The jury is still out on the remake, but it's not looking good.
You don't have to be old to know about Space 1999, but if you said those flares were really groovy, then that would be a dead giveaway
My old what?
