yea seriously, dont have her arrange her own flowers..local florists you see exactly what you get. you want her to open the box and clean up after? romantic
Call around to see what your local florist is offering. We have a very good florist in town that is doing a Valentines special; a dozen roses (choice of color: red, peach, pink or yellow), arranged in a clear glass vase and delivered (by their delivery guys) for $50 (including tax and delivery) or you can do a mixed color arrangement for $60 (tax and delivery included). Much better deal that this.
On the proflowers site, click the "heard on TV or radio" button and enter password "medved". I got better deal offerings. Ordered the 24 assorted roses w/ Ruby vase (upgrade required for this vase from Bens link) for $30 and then enter LISTEN10 at checkout for an addational 10% off. $42 shipped to. I plan to set them all up in the vase so she doesn't get just a box of flowers. For married guys on a budget, it sure beats spending twice as much for half as much.
I've order flowers from proflowers twice, not good. Both times when the flowers got to the recipients, they were beginning to wilt already. I only bought from them twice because I forgot how bad it was the first time (2-3 years had passed). The first one that I bought arrived in a box (I think it's the same for all merchants when you order them without a vase?) Notice their flowers are cheaper than 1800flowers? That's the reason. (FYI if you want pretty flowers try the Vera Wang's collection in ftd.com. They're not a whole lot more expensive compared with the other merchants, but the one I ordered came in a box, a vase and a perfume sample. The flowers were bunched up already so it's just a matter of sticking them in the vase. My friend loved it.)
#6 by that comment I can see that you definitely are not the rico suave of your zip code. Valentines Day is about your girl showing off not about you saving $20. If you spend an extra $15 or $20 and have them delivered already arranged at her office her coworkers are going to oooh and aaahh and she is going to be happy (since that is what this ginned up holiday is about her showing off and being happy). If you send her a box to the office where she has to put water and flowers in the vase her peers are going to rib her that her boy friend is cheap bastard (which you may be but she does not want everyone to know that). Plus by the time you add in the "extras" (better vase, delivery on a certain day, etc) at proflowers you are going to be at a minimum of $40 and hoping that UPS or FedEx makes the delivery on time.
do these show up in a box? girls don't like flowers that show up in a box delivered by UPS...
Dude, there's tons of free ones at the local cemetary.
