does anyone actually use these things?
slick
used only with AMD processor laptops....
thanks for the tip nhkhan22
I have an older laptop where the HD used to get hot. It was positioned where my right palm would rest on the keyboard. It used to get pretty hot after having it on all day. I got one of these type of coolers and it keeps it nice and cool all the time. USB powered. Quiet.
I used this (and with Core Duo laptop). This cooler is made with plastic and it is very flaky. Also the grille can touch the moving parts under the laptop. So I threw this one away and bought a laptop cooler from Antec. The top is aluminium (and it is better for heat dissipation) and the plastic is hard.
In short, do not buy this cooler!
Had this on a Dell Inspiron circa 1999. Worked pretty well to cool the hard drive. No longer had random shutdown issues...
I have two of these they are shitty and they are too small even for my 14 inch widescreen laptop. I would get the Antec Notebook Cooler that goes on sale all the time for 10 bucks or free.
Damn, it sold out. This is a really good price for one, I was going to get it for my roomate who has a 2 year old laptop that gets really hot when he plays games, incredible price.
I have an older model I use for when I'm working on the couch with my laptop. Keeps my lap nice and cool while I work. I'd definitely recommend it.
Get the Antec when it is on sale.
I've heard both sides on these, some people swear by them, others say they are the biggest waste of money ever- which one is it?
too bad its only for AMDs it seems like a good deal
Cassettes are making a comeback.
can you sit on it?
thanks nhkhan22, I was going to buy this for my ridiculously hot all the time mac
#8, here's the deal. I've had it for a few days. It is smaller than a 15in notebook, and the plastic is light weight... really light weight. Matter of fact, I think getting it out of the plastic wraper is tougher than the cooler. (That was not a joke.)
If your notebook is burning a hole in you lap, it does the job. I have an Antec cooler and there is NOT that much difference in cooling.
$5 bucks at Frys. I'm happy.
