Verizon Broadband is offering the FIOS Triple Play with FIOS TV, Internet, and Phone for $80/month. Includes a wireless router, premium installation, and a $300 Visa prepaid card with a 2-year contract.
That's because Verizon offers DSL service which works over the same copper wire as traditional phone service but is still way slower than cableco service in most places. When you go to their site they usually try to sell you crap DSL and DirectTV. For FIOS, VZW needs to run fiber to your area. A heard that they stopped the buildout of FIOS, but that was a while ago. I'm not sure if they are still expanding the reach to new areas. I still don't have FIOS available.
after i don't know how many years, they still don't have fios in my neighborhood, the worst is dsl is not even available DSL can you imagine, F@#K verizon and their BS company
Why would you want to go business with these shysters? Like most all big outfits, their customer service sucks. Take a look at what smaller providers in your area can do for you...
According to the article about whether Verizon should buy Netflix, it states that Verizon can't even effectively market FIOS to it's trillions of phone subscribers. Must be some bad customer service going on there.
FiOS is dead. Verizon will stop rollouts sometime in 2012. Everything will be 4G, you will have an antenna on your roof of your home or office & i'll bet they will contract out the installs just like DirecTV & Dish do. Be aware fiber optic cable can start failing within 10 years. I'll bet Verizon is already starting to have problems. You can only switch over to another strand so many times. The lifespan of fiber is 20-25 years, i'll say it's probably 15 years tops. The first step to this is the rollout of "Family Data Plans" which were also just announced which will give you an idea of the pricing & data caps. Yes data caps are the future. Internet & TV is all going wireless. Verizon spends about $1000 per FiOS installation. Now if it was a new housing track that cost is far less but an existing location, it's expensive. Verizon is loosing too much business to slow DSL customers wanting faster internet who tend to switch to cable when possible and DSL has a high maintenance cost for Verizon.
That's odd. I can get the Verizon internet and phone but not the TV in my area. I guess I'm stuck with Comcast.

Our DSL is slower than most DSL that I have ever had for the same speed. Can't have 2 devices on at the same time.
Indeed, they have halted all further rollouts of FiOS. Look for them to sell it.

Been trying to get FIOS for years. Glad now that it wasn't available.
