Virtually all video cards will output RGB+HV and not component Y/Pr/Pb over this cable, and no consumer-grade HDTV supports RGB+HV on its component inputs, so this cable will not allow you to view your laptop or desktop PC output on your HDTV display.
This cable is most commonly used when you want to connect a component output (on an older DVD player, for example) to the input on a projector. A lot of projectors have a standard VGA D-Sub 15 connector that is switchable to support either component or VGA input, and you use a cable like this to adapt the physical connection from component to D-Sub 15.

OK then. Anyway I bought one of these and it works great hooking up the Wii component to 15 pin. I have an epson projector and it works great. The quality is much better than svideo. Don't forget to get a 3 female-female adapter too.
