This seems to perpetuate the myth that cameras prevent crime. They don't. Ever seen in-store footage on the news from some convenience story that got robbed? Everyone, and I mean everyone, knows that some armpit pathetic gas station has video cameras. But they still rob them anyway. People know banks have cameras galore. They still get robbed.
You might as well throw your $4.55 into the street. People don't care. Cameras don't prevent anything.
^ what about the people who didn't rob them because of the cameras?
That's like saying wearing seat belts in a car don't help because people still die in wrecks. Granted, the key thing is you have to make people notice the cameras which is difficult when for sales purposes you're trying to make customers notice other high profit crap like lottery tickets or whatever other junk is on the counter with the camera (if it were real) needing to be back and high up on the wall or ceiling for a good video where you wouldn't notice them unless looking for them.
Gets sort of crazy too, last time I went in a gas station they had 2/3rds of the counter blocked by valentines day candy and you could barely even hand money to the cashier.
