I've said this before, but this TV is a BAD DEAL. Sure, the specs look pretty good, but read closely and you'll see that the website will NOT under any circumstances accept a return, even if your TV arrives DOA. You have to deal with Viewsonic for ANY issue, which means that if anything is wrong with your TV (as was wrong with mine) you'll have to have your brand new TV REPAIRED by Viewsonic.

Neither this cruddy 'online superstore' nor Viewsonic will REPLACE a new defective product, and only Viewsonic will step up and do anything at all, and that's a 2 to 3 week wait while your new product is REPAIRED.

I think it's a slimy practice to wash your hands of a customer as soon as you've made a sale.

It's even slimier for buy dot chowder to NOT post negative reviews of the TV! I posted my first after my initial issues with the TV, and they never posted it, and they had the nerve to send me an automated followup requesting a review! So I submitted another not so favorable review and they never posted that one, either.

Plus, this TV was rated either at the very bottom of the list or one or two above the bottom in a recent Consumer Reports LCD HDTV roundup. Agree or disagree with Consumer Reports, but that's gotta tell you something!

    AVOID!

So now that you have a repaired new TV, how do you like it? Not the service issue or bad practice of buy.com but what's your opinion regarding the clarity, contrast and overall value for price? If you can get this new again for this price and you wouldn't have to go through all that you explained, would you buy it again or a different TV in this price range?

    #2, I think he's saying the following:

"Other than that, Mrs. Lincoln really enjoyed the play."

I would assume that he's not happy, period, regardless of whether it was *fixed* or not.

I have to agree with number #1 in that if you purchase from Buy.com and the product is what you expected in good working order when it arrives you are fine but if you need to return a product or the product is DOA it is a hassle. I am still waiting for them (over a month now) to either issue a refund or replacement for one of the 60g USB WD hard drives that I purchased (and it was defective) that they had on special at the beginning of December.

I would like to say that the picture quailty is great and that I'm happy with the TV, but it's still out for repair. This is the middle of the second week and I don't expect it back for at least another week.

I went around and around and around with buy dot chowder offshore customer service and all they did is reiterate their 'special returns policy' and that they would not for any reason accept the TV back for refund or replacement.

The people I spoke with at Viewsonic said that they get a lot of people calling them complaining about the (alleged) 'online superstore' and their policy of not taking back DOA or defective TV's, so apparently a lot of defective units get shipped, and buy dot chowder hides behind their 'special returns policy' to avoid any responsibility to the customer.

They're slimy. Should be avoided. Tell a friend.

#2, never again, ever, will I order from buy dot chowder. If I found it similarly priced elsewhere, given how many units Viewsonic says they get sent to them for repair, I'd say that Viewsonic is not a reliable manufacturer of LCD HDTV's. Consumer Reports agrees.

For not much more money, you can get the awesome LG 32" LCD HDTV for $899 at Circuit City, or even a nice Sharp Aquos 32" LCD HDTV at Costco for $899! And if you're really on a budget, the Westinghouse 32" (version 6) LCD HDTV is at Best Buy for $699, you can take it back to them and get a new one if the one you get is defective, after my experience that's INVALUABLE!

#1, Thanks for the info. I was thinking about purchasing it, but I'll probably just get one from costco. I don't want to take a chance, I also don't want to hassle with a rebate.

agree with #1, i got that tv couple days before x'mas. nothing wrong with the box, as same as the surface of the tv. plugin the power cord, no problem turning it on/off at the first time. when i turned this thing on again, saw nothing on the screen. i had to unplug/re-plugin the power cord in order to solve the problem. more problem coming out within a day, snowing, off color...called + email to buy.com, and they gave me some bs, "your tv is another over size tv, u have to contact viewsonic..."
if you are shopping for a nice looking sculpture, get it from buy.com. this tv could be a beautiful decoration for your dining room or bedroom. however, if you are looking for a REAL viewsonic LCD, just get it from costco.
    $600 = sculpture from buy.com Twisted Evil
$899 = REAL VIEWSONIC LCD from costco Wink

Ahh, no wonder you didn't mention the product in your first post. Hope you get it back in perfect working condition. I'm in the market for a medium sized TV for my bedroom. This price range would be nice because for $900+, I rather buy a larger plasma TV for that kind of money and I'm not in the market for a 40" plasma TV. Good luck.

I paid about 900 for the 3250 over a year ago, and have had NO problems other than the typical poor blacks on LCD tv's. All of the reviews pertaining to buy.com have me reconsidering further purchases from them however.

I'm having a ton of problems with buy.com right now. I bought a Westinghouse 37" LCD from them right after xmas. I still haven't received it. They have no idea where it is. Their customer support is terrible. Buy.com isn't a company you can call easily. You will probably wait to talk to someone for an hour and all they will be able to do is send an email to corporate. I've actually managed to get emails from two different people from their support staff today though. The only thing they can offer is a refund since the tv is out of stock. Long story...but I won't be making any major purchases from Buy.com again...very frustrating experience trying to get answers from them.
