Through 7/19, Virgin Mobile is offering their Vigin Mobile Beyond Talk No Contract 300 Minute Plan for $25/month. The plan includes unlimited texts, email, data, and 300 anytime minutes and does not require a contract. On 7/20, the price is being raised to $35/month but plans that are started before then will be grandfathered in at the lower rate.
Was on the $40 1200 minute plan for a couple months before realizing I didn't need more than 300 minutes; been on the $25 plan ever since and couldn't be happier. The Optimus is a totally decent entry level android phone, even runs most if not all games well.
They're grandfathering a $10 less plan? I wonder how long that will last.
#1 I have the $25 a month plan with the Optimus, love it...
#2 Supposed to be until you change your plan or it runs out...hopefully they don't force it
I've been waiting until the end of August for my Sprint contract to expire so I can go back to Virgin, so this is great timing. The only problem is, in order to take advantage of this deal you'll have to buy the phone in person at a store in order to get the plan activated before the price increase goes into effect, unless you order the phone online and pay overnight shipping...which kind of defeats the purpose of buying the phone online at a discount.
Usually the phones at local stores (eg Target) are the same price as on-line. I don't know if the Optimus V in stores has been dropped to $150 like online. In any case, at $10 savings per month, you'll make back any extra costs quickly.
I've had VM for over 10 years and recently upped to the Optimus V & $25 plan. Has been awesome. For those wanting a more powerful Android phone, a Motorola phone will be released on 7/19, which is probably why they are raising the monthly price.
