I'm by no means a Vizio fan, but...

From a blog from May 2009 by Consumer Reports entitled:

"Vizio: The new top-selling LCD TV brand—and a fairly reliable one, too "

    http://blogs.consumerreports.org/electronics/2009/05/vizibaconhe-new-top-selling-lcd-tv-brand-and-a-fairly-reliable-one-too.html

    Snippets:

"According to market research firm iSuppli, budget-conscious consumers have made Vizio the top-selling brand of LCD TV in North America for the first quarter of 2009."

"We see no evidence of a reliability problem for Vizio, nor that the brand's customer service is lacking when sets do break"

FYI, My parents just bought a $2300 52" Samsung that died within the first 1/2 hour. If it were a Vizio I bet they wish they'd bought a Samsung. Also, Samsung has rep for dying shortly after the warrant runs out...cheap capacitors...and I'm not a Samsung hater either.

You can get this brand NEW right now if you call Vizio directly for $600. I got one on reserve but not sure if I want it now.

I would avoid Vizio espeically Refurbished. After using that model for 3 months, it died suddenly and quickly refunded to Costco.

I've seen the new Vizios have problem shutting itself down randomly when watching cable TV. I've exchanged two 22", then 32" and I finally gave up and bought a Philips 32" instead with 120Hz, 1080P, MVA Panel from costco at $600.
