anyone have thoughts on Vizio? i've heard some good things... though this will be less on black friday.
I've made a law that I think we all should agree on.
37" non 1080P, must be under $500 to purchase.
Ram
Too expensive.. you can find 1080p 37" for cheaper than this.
#2 is correct about the pricing
#1 I bought a Vizio 1080P last xmas from Dell for $999 and have loved watching football for almost a year on it with no problems.
Is it really that noticable between a 720p and 1080p? I'm just curious because I'm not really one to agonize over details. If I can't see the smallest zit on news anchor's face, I'm actually cool with that. =)
I have this set and love it. Lots of video settings so you can get it set how you want. 3 hdmi a nice layout help. The VGA part of it is very nice... I ran my laptop at 1600x1200 just to see if it would work, and it did. It's a 1366x768 set, but the scaling engine is very good from what I have seen. I got mine from Sears for an even $600.
If you read most professional reviews, you generally won't notice the difference between 720p and 1080i until you get a set over 50" or are VERY close to the screen. I am VERY picky about video details, and I find this set to be a great value, not perfect, but very good.
All other things being equal, if a 1080p is in your price range, buy it. 720p will be dated technology sooner than 1080p and the price difference anymore is small. I don't care if it's a 32" or 50" TV, if the price isn't unreasonably more for 1080p, GET 1080p! There is NO reason not to do so. If you have a Blue-Ray player and a standard DVD player, do you by all your movies on standard DVD because they are cheaper?? I understand the resolution difference is greater with that example, but seriously, you people spend WAY too much time debating 1080p and 720p. YES, 1080p may not be noticeable at certain distances. YES 1080p might be overkill for your application. YES, 1080p is better than 720p. The same people arguing for 720p over 1080p now will be the first to complain that their 720p sets can't handle certain technologies or become outdated in the future the soonest. Technology will always improve. For now 1080p is becoming more of a standard than 720p/1080i. If you can afford the standard, buy it. Enough ranting...
If bigger is better, you can get a Vizio 42" 720P Plasma for this price. Of course, you'd have to deal with the glare of the screen.
You can get a 1080p for this price at Costco, plus the great warranty they have. Why is this a deal?
i would go for the lg plasma deal above rather than this.
I got this from costco a while back for about this price as I wont be upgrading to blu ray for as long as I have to wait and by then sets will be way cheaper anyways. great setup easy to switch between x box cable wii and pc. also one more comment if your eyes arent perfect you will never notice the difference between 720 and 1080 so why bother. that coming from someone who is near sighted though.
Check out the latest Consumer Reports magazine. Vizio rates up there in LCD's with Samsung and Sony. I would buy one now that they took out all of the silver on the bottom.
im looking for a great deal on a 37inch flatscreen 1080! anyone have any leads? something that isnt a westinghouse.
